The overall health and wellbeing of our skin microbiome is dependant upon keeping its pH balance slightly acidic. The skin microbiome is home to a natural layer of acidic oils that, when kept intact, is a sign of healthy skin. All commercial skincare products that contain unclean ingredients like parabens, petroleum by-products and sulfates, and that have an alkaline pH, break down the skin microbiome and leave it vulnerable to bacteria that can cause inflammatory acne, eczema, rosacea and dermatitis. Plant-based oils are acidic and have been used in skincare for thousands of years because of their ability to heal, hydrate and protect. They are nature’s gift to help us gently and lovingly look after our skin and this is why all of our products are, and will always be, oil-based.
Our planet is beginning to suffer at an alarming rate and the beauty industry is sadly notorious for its negative impact on the environment. Each year it produces around 120 billion units of packaging - much of which isn’t recyclable. No action you do today or tomorrow is too small to make a difference, which is why in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint we’ve eliminated unnecessary packaging and the packaging we do have can be recycled. We source ingredients that have been sustainably harvested while at the same time ensuring the people who harvest these special plants are treated fairly. Clean beauty should also mean a clean world.
“Natural” has become an overused and green-washed buzzword in the beauty industry today, leaving many consumers feeling confused over what is actually natural. If a company uses an ingredient that is derived from nature, but then modified in a lab to the point of no longer being beneficial for the skin’s microbiome it can still label that ingredient as natural on their package as it once came from nature.
Truly natural plant ingredients that weren’t grown or harvested in pesticide-laden soil contain the highest amount of beneficial, active enzymes, minerals, vitamins and phytonutrients - more actives, more healing, more regeneration. Pesticide treated plants have a weaker immune system as pesticide-laden soil has reduced concentrations of essential plant nutrients that simply cannot grow nutrient dense plants.
Natural in its unadultered form means purity. Purity of product so we can deliver maximum benefits to you is at the core of everything we do.
